This project involved the partial demolition of the existing building and the erection a new building, a Lidl Discount Food store in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.
Project Description
The partial demolition of existing building and erection of 1 no. discount food store of 1423m2 gross floor area, comprising of a single storey pitched roof structure, enclosed dock leveller, 1 no. freestanding and 3 no. mounted back illumination signage, boundary treatments with a connection to all existing services and associated site development works of the new vehicular access road and 134 car parking spaces. All works were undertaken by Coffey Staff, specifically trained in specific trades involved. Coffey Construction Limited were the PSCS for the project.
Project Delivery
- The work involved the partial demolition of approx. 1200m2 of an existing warehouse and site clearance and the construction of a single storey pitched roof structure of approx 1423m2.
- The contract was carried out in a very short time frame due to a deadline to open the shop for March 2008.
- The works involved in-situ concrete columns, floor slabs and walls and a timber roof structure.
- The walls were constructed of Poroton blocks with a plastered finish internally and externally.
As part of the ground works package, the following works were carried out, pre-cast boundary retaining wall, site drainage and connection to existing services, stormwater retention tank and petrol interceptor for car park, paved car park area, kerbing and edging, construction of new vehicular access road and road markings, Street lighting and Landscaping. Coffey Group started on site in November 2007.
