Coffey Marks 50 Years Since Foundation with UK Staff and Client Celebrations

On 26th June 2024, Coffey commemorated the 50th anniversary since foundation in 1974 with a series of events at Drayton Manor Resort in Staffordshire, UK. These gatherings brought together UK staff, clients, suppliers and industry partners to celebrate half a century of Coffey’s achievements in civil engineering and water infrastructure.

The day began with a client lunch, providing an opportunity for Coffey to strengthen relationships with valued partners and discuss forthcoming projects. This gathering allowed the company to showcase its commitment to innovation and community impact, whilst reflecting on collaborative successes over the years.

Following the client event, Coffey hosted a separate celebration specifically for its UK staff, marking this significant milestone in the company’s history. Odran Madden, Managing Director, opened the evening by delving into Coffey’s 50-year journey since its establishment, highlighting the importance of the company’s family-owned business model. Sean and Simon Coffey offered personal insights into their experiences growing up within the organisation, providing staff with a unique perspective on the company’s evolution over five decades.

Simon Papiernik, UK Operations Director, shared his professional journey with Coffey and outlined strategic plans for the future. He emphasised the company’s focus on recruiting local talent, particularly for ongoing projects with Severn Trent. This approach aligns with Coffey’s dedication to fostering strong community relationships in the regions it serves.

The staff event also provided an opportunity to recognise outstanding achievements within the team. Hayley Jackson and colleagues were commended for their recent success in winning the ICE Early Careers Network East Midlands Award for Best Small Project, exemplifying the high calibre of talent within the organisation.

As Coffey reflects on its 50 years since foundation, the company stands as an example of vision and perseverance in the field of civil engineering. These anniversary celebrations not only honoured past accomplishments but also reinforced Coffey’s commitment to continued innovation and excellence in the civil engineering and water infrastructure sectors going forward for the next 50 years.

The events on 26th June served as a fitting tribute to Coffey’s legacy since its establishment and its ongoing mission to inspire future generations of engineers, whilst delivering vital infrastructure projects across the UK.
