Coffey Awarded Ringaskiddy Public Realm Project

Coffey is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract to deliver the Ringaskiddy Public Realm & Active Travel scheme. This project aims to enhance infrastructure and promote active travel in Ringaskiddy, County Cork, providing long-term benefits to residents and visitors.

The contract for the construction phase of the Ringaskiddy Active Travel and Urban Realm scheme was signed on Monday 9th December 2024.

Project Overview

The scheme will include the development of a shared-use pedestrian and cycleway along the N28, connecting Ringaskiddy village to Gobby Beach, alongside significant public realm upgrades in the village centre.

Scope of Works

The key elements of the project include:

  • Site Clearance: 2.54 hectares
  • Earthworks: Excavation and disposal of 2,903m³
  • Drainage: 961 linear metres of 150mm and 225mm pipes (up to 5m deep)
  • Service Ducts: Installation of 2,264 linear metres
  • Pavements: 14,606m² surface course
  • Kerbing: 11,704 linear metres of various kerb types
  • Footpaths and Cycle Tracks:
    • Bituminous shared-use cycle track: 5,213m²
    • Concrete footpath: 1,410m²
    • Other paved areas: 1,394m²
  • Traffic Features: Installation of traffic signs, road markings, and road lighting
  • Landscaping: Enhancements to improve the aesthetic and environmental quality of the area
