We’re making great strides on the Ringaskiddy Urban Realm & Active Travel Scheme, an exciting project that’s enhancing connectivity and safety for the local community in County Cork. As part of this project, Coffey is working on behalf of Cork County Council to create a new shared-use pedestrian and cycle path along the N28 through Ringaskiddy village.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞:
We’ve recently completed a key stage at the Port of Cork entrance, marking an important step forward. The entrance now provides safe pedestrian and vehicle access between the Ferry Terminal and Ringaskiddy Village, benefiting both locals and Brittany Ferries traffic between Cork and Roscoff.
𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡:
We’re also delighted to announce that the new shared cycle path linking the Port Entrance to Gobby Beach is now open! This new route enhances access from the village to both Gobby Beach and Haulbowline, encouraging active travel and making it easier for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the beautiful local scenery.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭:
Currently, our construction efforts are concentrated on Main Street and the Loughbeg Junction. Key activities include:
𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: 2.54 hectares
𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: Excavation and disposal of 2,903 cubic metres
𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞: 961 metres of pipework installation
𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬: 2,264 metres
𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬:
14,606 square metres of surface course
11,704 metres of kerbing
5,213 square metres of shared cycle track
1,410 square metres of concrete footpath
1,394 square metres of other paved areas
𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬, 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Once complete, the project will transform the village, offering:
• Safer walking and cycling routes
• Enhanced connections within the village and to nearby areas
• Improved visual appeal with new paving, landscaping, and traffic calming features
We’re proud to be part of this community-focused project that prioritises safety, accessibility, and quality of life for the people of Ringaskiddy.
