CCI1812 - HR Co-ordinator Athenry Co.Galway


Location :  Athenry Co Galway
Salary Range : €23,000 to €27,000



  • Be the first point of contact for all construction employees regarding any HR/Payroll queries.
  • Deal with all the relevant telephone & email enquiries.
  • Work according to the HR Schedule, Employee Legislation & the HR KPI’s.
  • Responsible for day to day administration of all HR functions, including implementing the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of employment contracts and issuing the starter packs.
  • Complete the onboarding using the HR Systems and issuing identification cards.
  • Implement and manage site locations for the construction employees. 
  • Maintain all construction employee’s personal files, the training matrix and the HR file audit.
  • Follow the guidelines set out in accordance with the GRETB apprentice programme.
  • Work closely with the wider management team and the relevant departments to ensure a highly effective HR service.
  • Attend meetings with the department Managers.
  • Support the HR department with ad hoc projects.


  • Liaise with the managers/site managers in relation to recruitment requirements for the Construction Department.
  • Advertise job positions internally and externally, for example on social media platforms LinkedIn.
  • Manage incoming applications and identify the relevant candidates with the appropriate skills as outlined in the sourcing strategy.
  • Telephone/Skype screening of potential candidates.
  • Schedule interviews /attend interviews when required.
  • Conduct the reference checking of potential candidates.
  • Provide regular updates to the hiring manager regarding the stages of the recruitment process for potential candidates.
  • Follow the approved suppliers list of the recruitment companies.
  • Complete onboarding with all new employees.
  • Follow up/ provide feedback with candidates and clients during the recruitment process as required.

Training & Development

  • Ensure that the construction department is compliant with all aspects of health & safety legislation.
  • Ensure that the sites are compliant with all company requirements, employment legislation and eligibility requirements, ensuring that we provide a fair and safe place of work for employees.
  • Identify the individual & construction site’s training needs and assisting in the preparation of the training plan.
  • Review the training needs daily and co ordinate with the training administrator.
  • Assist with the implementation of the company’s performance & development reviews. 
  • Establish training and qualification records for each employee in the construction department.
  • Probation tracking is maintained and up to date.
  • Follow the apprenticeship code of practice for the ‘on-the-job’ phases.

Employee Relations

  • Progressively deal with ER issues in a manner that emulates our culture of fairness through effective and consistent use of our policies and procedures while de-risking the business.
  • Case manage employee relations issues providing advice on employment legislation and best practice.
  • Guide and advise management on investigation meetings, disciplinaries, absence management and grievance issues.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3rd level qualification in HR
  • Knowledge/ Experience of Payroll is an advantage
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced Construction, manufacturing/warehouse environment is an advantage
  • Proven experience and understanding of end to end recruitment process and onboarding
  • High attention to detail and experience working to tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Systems Experience: MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Excel, Online HR Information System (such as CascadeGo) experience is preferred
